Family Night of Punk & Anarchism: Strike Anywhere at Chain Reaction

Garth's bassOn Wednesday, we took the kids down to Chain Reaction in Anaheim to see Strike Anywhere play. We love Chain because:

  • It's all-ages, so the whole family can always attend.
  • It's a very small venue. I believe the standing room occupancy is around 250, so you can get up close and enjoy that great, raw sense of a what a live show is all about.
  • They have a cool barrier wall that we try to stand behind, on which you can lean (it's just below chest-height for me). It's perfect because you can be right next to the stage, but removed from the pit, to keep our kiddos safe.
  • Really amazing bands regularly book there, so it allows us the opportunity to see some of our favorites play in a personal setting, without ridiculous ticket prices.
  • Anaheim is an easy drive from our house, so it makes weeknight shows possible. Yay!

Steve and I have been fans of Strike Anywhere for a long time and never had the opportunity to see them live, so we were quite excited to get tickets to this show.  Strike is not only an incredibly talented political punk band, but their message and "movement" is inspiring and important. Their anarchist messages of anti-capitalism, globalization, animal rights, women's rights, etc., definitely resonate with us. Their level of passion and enthusiasm for rousing true change certainly did not disappoint.  They were ON IT this night and so powerful and incredible!!

We were also pleasantly surprised by the opening bands: Ruiner, Crime in Stereo, and Polar Bear Club.  What a fantastic night of empowerment and music it was.

This is one of six videos I shot of Strike (also two of Polar Bear Club).  If you are into SA and want to check them out, you can catch them all on my youtube channel
