Dr. AlzheimerJune 14, 1864: The German psychiatrist and pathologist Alois Alzheimer was born on this day in 1864 at Markbreit am Mainz, Germany. In 1907, an article by Alzheimer appeared in Allgemeine Zeitschrift fur Psychiatrie, first describing the disease that was named for him. It was thought of as a kind of pre-senile dementia, usually beginning at age 40-60. Alzheimer died December 19, 1915 at Breslau, Germany.
