Barack, Miley & Hannah On Popular Baby Name List: Where Do You Rank?

Would you name your baby boy Barack? How about Miley for a little girl? It seems that Americans dig both of these, according to the Social Security Administration, which just released the ever-interesting Popular Names list.

Barack moved up a record 10,126 spots to become the 2,409 most commonly used boys name; while Miley (as in Cyrus) popped into #127 for girls names (up 152 spots from last year).  It appears that the alter ego of Miley (aka Hannah) is even more popular, as Hannah ranked as the #17 on the girls list, falling from the #9 spot last year.

Emma reigned as the #1 girls name, bumping Emily out of line after it had secured that spot for 12 years straight.  Emma originally landed in the top ten after Jennifer Aniston gave her baby that name on the television show, "Friends" in 2002.  Isabella, Emily, Madison and Ava rounded out the top five for girls.

Jacob was the top name for boys for the tenth straight year; followed by: Michael, Ethan, Joshua and Daniel.

Check out the official list to see the top ten for each gender; and use their cool "Name Popularity" search to see where your name or your child's name ranks.  Where is your name on the list?  What about your little one's?   The most popular of our family members is Aidan, who ranks 59th this year; surprisingly above Steve, which is #593.
